  • Liberia govt partners Coasters on MOBEX

    Coasters Company Limited, organisers of the Africa Mobile & ICT Expo (MOBEX), have struck a partnership agreement with the government of the republic of Liberia to promote Information and Communications Technology and showcase new trends in ICT and the Telecommunication industry within the Liberian market.

    The partnership, which will see Coasters replicate in Liberia its flagship ICT trade show – MOBEX- first held in Ghana in July 2015.

    Coasters will collaborate with relevant Liberia government ministries, agencies and private sector players in the West African country’s ICT sector in rolling out MOBEX- Liberia.

    MOBEX Liberia will create a unique platform for a conversation on driving the Liberia development agenda and accelerating economic growth through technology, exhibition of African innovations, products and solutions.

    MOBEX-Liberia is slated for first quarter, 2017. Of special interest will be the launch of a national youth incubator program, Liberian Youth Innovation Program which will train, develop and equip many Liberian youths with technology-based skills required to compete globally. The program is aimed at churning out innovationists and solutionists who will create sustainable Jobs and forex earnings for the country using ICT as the hotbed.

    Coasters is set to become a strategic technology partner for job creation in the area of both hard and software development and opening up Liberia’s digital economy opportunities through partnership with industry and commerce, investors, public and private sector actors and enthusiasts of the ICT Industry.

    George Spencer Quaye, the CEO of Coasters Company who led the delegation, is confident the MOBEX-Liberia partnership agreement will serve as a vehicle for an accelerated socio-economic growth of the Liberian economy and propel the country for a transformational development and prosperity, opening up the Liberian market for investments and infrastructure development.

    Speaking for the Government of Liberia, the Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Eugene Nagbe was delighted about the opportunities such Expo will bring to the technology environment and the Liberia economy at large, saying, “Liberia and Ghana have many great things to offer and this new co-operation between Coasters Ltd and the Government of Liberia will be a great opportunity for Liberia to showcase itself to the world” and pledged Government’s support to see it through.

    The team later paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of Liberia, HE Joseph Boakai, who expressed enthusiasm about the future of MOBEX- Liberia and recounted the great historic ties between Ghana and Liberia and called for more Public Private Sector participation in the development of Africa.

    MOBEX-Liberia partnership follows a successful 2nd edition of MOBEX Africa held in June this year at the Accra International Conference Centre, which was graced by HE John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana as the Special Guest of Honour.
